Mediodactylus kotschyi

Kotschy’s gecko is distributed from the south of Italy, throughout the Balkans (Albania, F.Y.R.O.M., Bulgaria, Serbia, and Greece) to central (Hungary) and eastern (Ukraine) Europe, and from Turkey and Cyprus to the Near East (Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria). It is common in dry, rocky areas with shrubby vegetation. In Greece the species inhabits many islands and islets (usually being the only reptile species present), where it hides under stones and inside crevices of stone walls.
